It’s been a joy getting to know Karli over the past few months - she’s full of vibrant energy and a big heart. Through her silliness and sense of adventure, she always seems to be finding ways to make those around her feel loved and cared for. I think it’s safe to say she brings a smile and a laugh to all of her friends when she’s around. In order for you guys to get to know Karli a bit better, I interviewed her about her life and travels. Enjoy!
What is it you love doing in life? What are some of your hobbies?
I have such a passion for traveling and exploring. I especially love road tripping. There is something about driving from state to state, seeing all the different cultures and scenery that takes my breath away.
What is a favorite spot you've traveled to? How did you spend your time there?
I have quite a few places that I absolutely loved. But one of my absolute favorite spots has been Antelope Canyon. It’s a slot Canyon in Arizona. You wander through this little slots inside the canyon and the inside is magical. With a little imagination the structures make a picture; and such as a shark, a desert sunset. It’s a site that shouldn’t be missed!
What's the most dangerous situation you've found yourself in during travel/life?
I’ve been in quite a few dangerous situations. I’ve traveled many times across country alone, making myself an easy target. This story ended okay, but it made me think of all the what if’s and that to me was horrifying. On one of my cross country road trips, I was driving in Texas on I-10 heading west. I stopped at a rest stop to check my tires and oil. While I was stopped a very scary looking man stepped out of his truck, walked up to my car and asked if everything was okay. It seemed innocent at first and I didn’t think anything of it. I took off back down the highway and the truck followed me 300 miles til I stopped at a gas station. The truck cut across two lanes of highway and went to the same gas station as me. I parked at a pump and he parked right next to me. Getting a little worried I look up and the ONLY other car in the parking lot was a cop. The man also looks up and takes off in his truck back onto the highway. Never getting gas or speaking to me. As I said earlier, nothing bad ended up happening, but the “what if’s” definitely got me thinking.
Have you ever picked up a hitch hiker? How did it go?
I have never picked up a hitch hiker, but I have hitch hiked once before. Probably not my smartest move I’ve made, but I made it out alive . Of course the car that stopped to get me was an all white van, with no windows.
When feeling creative, where do you find inspiration?
I find alllll my creative inspiration outside in nature. New places and new adventures really help expand my creative mind.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I think the question should be, is there any place you wouldn’t live ? I’m a nomad. Any opportunity I can create to live in a new place, I’d take it ! I would love to spend a year living in Thailand. Arizona would be one of my top US choices. So much exploring to do there.
To keep up with Karli and her ventures around the globe, give her instagram a follow - last time we chatted, she had just flown a plane for the first time over Key West. Literally always up to something exciting!
